Wartburg Hosts Simpson in Annual Homecoming Game

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Wartburg (3-2 overall, 2-1 IIAC) hosts Simpson (2-3, 1-2) Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The Hall of Fame Class of 2016 will be recognized at 1:10 p.m.

The Series
Wartburg holds the all-time series lead at 41-20-1 and has won six of the last eight meetings. In last year's contest, the Knights amassed 721 yards of offense, breaking the previous school record of 573 set in the previous week's game against Buena Vista.

Junior Connor Schrader (Lake Zurich, Ill.) continues to lead the team on the ground with 308 yards and four touchdowns. Senior Jake Haberman (Clarion) and freshman Dylan Binion (Albany, Ill.) join him in triple digits with 228 and 227 yards, respectively.

Sophomore quarterback Matt Sacia (Eldridge) has thrown for 1,326 yards and 13 TDs. His top target has been junior Riley Brockway (Postville) who has 32 receptions for 404 yards and four TDs. Junior Griffin Brennecke (Marion) is the next leading receiver with 373 yards on 17 catches for four TDs.

Junior Tony Anstoetter (Farley) leads the defense with 39 total tackles, while senior Dalton Ciavarelli (Clarksville) has a team-best 5.5 tackles for a loss of 24 yards.

Simpson
Jordan Beem is the Storm's leading rusher with 459 yards for two TDs.

Caleb Frye has thrown for 680 yards for five TDs. Jackson Redmond is the leading receiver with 276 yards on 17 receptions for two scores.

Cole Cook leads the defense with 59 total tackles; Brendan Holmes follows with 51.
