PELLA, Iowa-- While the Wartburg football team (4-3 overall, 3-2 IIAC) may have lost 51-37 to Central (6-2, 4-2) Saturday, many new single-game school records were set. Sophomore quarterback Matt Sacia (Eldridge) shattered the mark for passing yards with 500 (old mark was 400 set by Logan Schrader against Central in 2012) and completions with 37 (old record was 31 set by Nick Yordi against Loras in 2009). His 500 passing yards also tied the Iowa Conference single-game record:Bryan Bradshaw (Dubuque) vs. Simpson, 2013.

Junior wide receiver Griffin Brennecke (Marion) bested the record of pass receptions of 13 set by Trevor Shannon against Central in 1998 with 14 on the day. He was eight yards shy of the single-game school record in reception yards held by current defensive coordinator Chris Winter.
