Knights Face Norse in IIAC Tournament Finals

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg women's soccer team (10-4-4) will face off against Luther (11-2-3) on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Decorah for the Iowa Conference Championship game. Admission will be $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens (65 ). Children five and under are free.

Iowa Conference Title on the Line
No. 4 Wartburg upset No. 1 Loras in a 2-0 shootout on Wednesday and No. 2 Luther topped No. 3 Central 2-0. The winner of Saturday's match will be crowned the IIAC Tournament champion and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Wartburg
The Wartburg women have reached the IIAC finals game six times in tournament history. The Orange and Black won the Iowa Conference Tournament title in both 2007 and 2015. When the Knights faced Luther earlier this season, the Norse won 2-1 in overtime.

Junior Alyssa Hewitt (Clive) and sophomore Alyssa Drewelow (Cedar Rapids) each have six goals this season. Junior Morgan Neuendorf (Shell Rock) follows with five goals. Hewitt has a team-high four assists. Drewelow, Neuendorf and sophomore Katie Ives (Cedar Rapids) have all added two assists. Junior keeper Beth Crow (North Liberty) enters the game looking for her 12th shutout.

Luther
The Norse tied with Loras for the regular season IIAC title. Ellie Bunz leads the way for Luther's offense with 11 goals and Melissa Chasse has scored nine. Lauren Hughes in the assister leader, recording seven on the season. Goalie Lauren Thormodsgard has seven shutouts.
 
National Stat Rankings
The Wartburg women rank in the top 100 of four statistical categories, which the NCAA released Monday. The Knights rank 22th in save percentage (.895), 27th in shutout percentage (.647), 49th in goal against average (.621) and 91st in assists per game (.676).
  
Individually, one Knights rank in the top 100 of three statistical categories. Crow ranks 26th in save percentage (.893), 51st in goals against average (0.621) and ranks 68th in goalie minutes played (1594:17).
