Late Run Helps Wartburg Leap Past Loras

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The score was tied at 70 all with 41 seconds to play in Wednesday's game against Loras. The Duhawks then fouled to put the Knights at the free throw line. Junior Lenart Kalen (Skofja Loka, Slovenia) made one of his two attempts to give the home team the one-point lead with 16 seconds left. Loras got the ball back but turned it over with six seconds remaining and junior Jordan Cannon (Bollingbrook, Ill.) stole it and sprinted up the court and attempted a layup, but was fouled on the shot.

Cannon made both free throws to make the score 73-70 with two seconds to play.
The Orange and Black retained possesion on the intentional foul and held onto the ball to seal the win.

With the victory, Wartburg is now 13-9 overall and 6-5 in conference games while Loras is 11-11 and 6-5.

Cannon led the team with 17 points, sophomore Nate Woeste (Atkins) had 13 and freshman Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) finished with 10.
