ROCK ISLAND, Ill.-- The Wartburg softball team won both games Saturday in the 2-1 win in eight innings over Augustana and 4-1 over Northland
The Vikings took the 1-0 lead in the third until the Knights tied it in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Kimberly Wedeking (Clarksville). Neither team scored in the seventh to send the game into extra innings. The Orange and Black were the visiting team and sophomore Erica Countryman (Plainfield, Ill.) drove in the game-winning run on her double which scored classmate Kristie Sommer (Cedar Rapids).
Augustana was retired in order in the bottom of the frame to seal the win for Wartburg.
In the final game, the Knights plated two runs in both the first and second innings while Northland scored its lone run in the fourth.
Both pitchers threw complete games for the Orange and Black on the day.
Wartburg returns to the field next Saturday for its home opener against UW-Platteville.
