CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- A trio of Wartburg volleyball players recorded double digit kills in the 3-1 win over Coe Wednesday. Junior Aryn Jones (Marion) had a team-best 12 kills while classmate Maddie Miller (Johnston) and senior Claire Willenbring (Dyersville) each had 10. Willenbring led the team at the service line with four aces and sophomore Kathryn Nasby (Jackson, Minn.) had 23 digs.



The Knights dropped the first set 25-18 but then took the next three, 25-19, 25-11 and 25-13. With the win, the Orange and Black are 7-4 overall and 1-0 in IIAC matches.

Junior Maria Brown (Peosta) had a double-double with 17 assists and 12 digs. Sophomore Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) had 13 assists as she co-ran the offense.

In the second set, Wartburg used a five-point run to take the 15-11 lead and another five-point run which included back-to-back kills from Miller to claim the set.

The Knights quickly controlled set three as they jumped to an 11-5 lead which they never relinquished. A similar story rang true in the final set as the Orange and Black took a 15-4 lead and later used a five-point run to build their margin to 21-7.

Wartburg returns to the court Friday in the IIAC/NAAC Challenge.
