WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team moved to 9-4 on the season in its 3-0 sweeps over Dominican (Ill.) and Edgewood Friday in the first day of the IIAC/NAAC Challenge.
Againt Dominican (Ill.), junior Aryn Jones (Marion) had a team-best 11 kills and .533 hitting percentage. Senior Claire Willenbring (Dyersville) narrowly missed double digits with her nine kills. Junior Maria Brown (Peosta) tallied 21 assists co-running the offense and added two service aces.
In the match against Edgewood, Jones again led the team with eight kills and .615 hitting percentage. The other story of the match was that the Knights tallied 12 service aces, just four shy of the single-match school record. Sophomore Lizzy Blough (Dike) had a team-best four while Brown and sophomore Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) each had three.
The Orange and Black conclude competition in the challenge Saturday against Concordia Wisconsin and Lakeland.
