Seven Knights Score Double Digits to Defeat Spartans

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Wartburg College men's basketball team (11-3 overall, 3-2 IIAC) defeated the University of Dubuque (5-8, 2-3) on Saturday 94-74.



The Knights led by as many as 20 points in the first half and held the 52-33 lead at the halftime buzzer. Wartburg increased their margin to 26 points in the second, but ultimately sealed the victory over the Spartans by 20 points.

Wartburg had the advantage in both field goal shooting (.542) and in three point field goal percentage (.458). The team also recorded 25 total assists.

The offensive charge was led by seven players scoring double-digits. Senior Nick Webber (Peosta) had 17 points, senior Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) had 14 and sophomore Josh Gehling (Dyersville) added 13. Sophomore Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) recorded 12 points, senior Lenart Kalan (Skofja Loka, Slovenia) and sophomore Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) each scored 11 and senior Nate Woeste (Atkins) recorded 10.

The top rebounders for the Knights were Cannon and junior Sawyer Herman (Monticello), each grabbing four. Woeste and Kalan led the team with four assists each.

The Knights will continue Iowa Conference play on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on the road against Buena Vista.
