PELLA, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team remained perfect in Iowa Conference play at 6-0 with its 3-2 win
(23-25,25-23,23-25,25-11,16-14) over Central Friday. The Knights are now 18-5 on the season while the Dutch fell to 9-19, 1-6. The Orange and Black have now solidified a spot in the conference tournament. Seeds are yet to be determined with one week left in the regular season.
Senior Aryn Jones (Marion) led all players with 19 kills and classmate Maddie Miller (Johnston) joined her in double digits with 12. Junior Lizzy Blough (Dike) had four service aces and freshman Katie Foster (Charles City) had three. Foster also had a career-high 33 digs.
Junior Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) had 23 assists and senior Maria Brown (Peosta) had 22 as they ran the offense. Brown had a double-double as she added 13 digs.
The teams traded set wins to force a deciding fifth set. The Dutch led 8-7 as the teams traded sides. The score was tied four times, which included 11-11. Wartburg built its lead to 14-12, but Central evened it once more at 14 all. The Knights earned the win on a Dutch service and setting error.
The Orange and Black return home to host Dubuque Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the annual Senior Night.
