DECORAH, Iowa-- The No. 17/20 Wartburg football team moved to 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in Iowa Conference play in the 41-16 win over Luther (4-3,3-2) Saturday.

The teams traded touchdowns on their first drives of the game and the score remained 7-7 through halftime.

The Knights used a nine-play, 74-yard drive to open the third quarter as junior Matt Sacia (Eldridge) connected with sophomore Lee Bonifus (Asbury) for a 28-yard score to take the 13-7 lead.

On the Norse's ensuing drive, senior Chris McNutt (Solon) recovered the fumble scored from 22-yards out to increase the Orange and Black's lead to 21-7.

Senior Connor Schrader (Lake Zurich, Ill.) recorded the third score of the frame on a four-yard TD run to make it 28-7. Luther had its final offensive score of the day on its next drive and then returned a blocked extra point attempt which made it 34-16.

Later in the fourth, Wartburg punted the ball, but then recovered the fumble on Luther's 21-yard line. Schrader completed the scoring drive, again from four-yards out, to make the score 41-16.

Schrader led the team with 84 yards and two TDs on 17 carries. Sacia finished 13-24-1 for 167 yards and one TD. He has finished with triple-digit passing yards in 14-straight games and in 16 of his last 17, which dates back to last season.

Senior Riley Brockway (Postville) led the receivers with four catches for 53 yards.

McNutt led the defense with his 12 total tackles.

The Knights return home next weekend to host Dubuque at 1 p.m.
