LA CROSSE, Wis.--The Wartburg women's soccer team (10-6-4 overall) fell to St. Thomas (13-3-3) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, 1-0 Saturday.
Coming into the game, the Knights were looking to avenge an earlier season 2-1 loss against the Tommies on Sept. 27.
The lone goal in today's game was scored at 14:56 by the Tommies' Brielle Bierman.
For the Knights' offense, senior Alyssa Hewitt (Clive) and freshman Anna Rood (Ames) each tallied one shot-on-goal.
In goal for the Knights, senior Beth Crow (North Liberty) recorded seven saves.
The Orange and Black held the advantage in saves (7-2).
With the win, St. Thomas will advance and play host UW-La Crosse in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
