DECORAH, Iowa-- No. 4 Luther took both games of the doubleheader Wednesday in the 10-1 six-inning win and 3-2 in the finale.

The Norse plated one in the second and three in the third to take an early 4-0 lead. Senior Taylor Smola (Stevens Point, Wis.) had a leadoff home run to right centerfield in the fourth for the Orange and Black's lone run of the game.

Luther had two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and a three-run walkoff homer in the sixth to earn the run-rule win.

Junior Kristie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) was 2-3 in the game.

The Norse took the 1-0 lead in the second of the finale, but Wartburg answered back to take the 2-1 lead in the third which included an RBI double from Smola. Luther scored the go-ahead runs in the fourth to make it 3-2.

The Knights were unfortunately unable to advance a baserunner past first for the duration of the game to seal the win for the Norse.

Smola was 3-3 and sophomore Brenna Gray (Waterloo) was 2-3.

The Orange and Black continue their six-game road swing Saturday at Buena Vista.
