No. 21 Knights Travel to Face Storm

WAVERLY, Iowa—The No. 21 Wartburg men's basketball team (11-3 overall, 4-1 IIAC) travel to face Simpson (8-6, 4-2) Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m.

The Series
The Orange and Black have a commanding lead in the all-time series against the Storm at 74-31. Simpson swept the Knights last season, 81-68 and 86-80, respectively.

Wartburg  
Three Knights lead the Wartburg offense by averaging double-digit points per game. Junior Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) averages 15.4, senior Sawyer Herman (Monticello) nets 12.4 and senior Nate Woeste (Atkins) scores 11.1 points per game. Junior Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) has a team-best 33 assists this season.

On the defensive effort for the Orange and Black, Sabus leads the team, averaging 6.7 rebounds per game. Woeste averages 5.3 rebounds per game. Freshman Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) leads the team in steals with 21. Junior Josh Gehling (Dyersville) and Woeste each have seven blocks on the season.

Simpson
The Storm offense is led by three players averaging double-digit points per game: Sam Amsbaugh (21.9), Conor Riordan (16.9) and Tyler Stumbo (11.3). Amsbaugh has also tallied a team-high 54 assists on the season.

Defensively, Amsbaugh leads the team in rebounds, averaging 7.3 grabs per game. Taylor Filbert averages 6.6 rebounds per game. Riordan has a team-best 17 steals on the season and Amsbaugh has tallied nine blocks.
