WAVERLY, Iowa-- Senior Kristie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) became No. 2/6 Wartburg's career leader in three-point field goals in the 96-51 win over Dubuque Saturday. She was tied for the record entering today's contest and broke the mark of 217, set by Samantha Harrington (2007-11). The achievement occurred with 6:17 to play in the first quarter.
With the victory, the Knights move to 19-0 overall and 10-0 in Iowa Conference games, while the Spartans dropped their sixth-straight and are 4-16, 2-9.
Senior Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) led all scorers with 24 points, just three points shy of her career-best She was a perfect 4-4 from three-point range and 6-6 from the free throw line.
Classmate Morgan Neuendorf (Plainfield) and sophomore Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) completed those in double figures at 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Senior Miranda Murphy (Alleman) led the team with eight rebounds.
The Orange and Black led 30-9 after the first quarter and never looked back. Wartburg held the advantage in all three team shooting percentage categories, and held Dubuque to an opponent-low .077 from beyond the arc.
The Knights made a season-high 14 treys and 52 rebounds as every player that dressed saw playing time in the afternoon.
The Orange and Black take to the road next Wednesday when they face Buena Vista at 6 p.m.
