STORM LAKE, Iowa-- Junior Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) scored a career-high 19 points in Wartburg's 77-66 loss to conference leader Buena Vista Wednesday. Kickbush surpassed his old mark of 18 set against Crown College at the start of this season.
Senior Sawyer Herman (Monticello) and freshman Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) joined Kickbush in double digits with 16 and 10 points, respectively. Senior Clifton Brown (Mims, Fla.) and junior Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) co-led the team with five boards.
The Beavers are now 16-5 overall and 9-3 in IIAC games, while the Knights are 12-8, 5-6.
The lead changed hands five times in the first half as Orange and Black took the one-point lead at halftime, 36-35.
The score in the second half was tied three times, which included 49 all with 12:44 to go. BV compiled a 7-0 lead over the next three minutes to regain the lead for good. The Beavers used a strong second half to build their margin to double digits.
Wartburg held the team advantage in free throw percentage (.900 vs. .667). This was the second-best percentage of the season, behind its 1.000 mark at UNI.
The Knights return home Saturday when they host Simpson at 4 p.m.
