Football Repeats as Conference Champions

DUBUQUE, Iowa-- The Wartburg football team (8-2 overall, 7-1 American Rivers) repeated as the Conference Champions in the 47-28 victory over Dubuque (7-3, 6-2) Saturday. This marked the 16th conference championship in program history.



The Spartans led 21-20 at halftime, but a 14 point third quarter for the Knights sealed the comeback win.



Senior Matt Sacia (Eldridge) became the program's career leader in pass completions (665) as he surpassed Logan Schrader's 659. He has also finished with triple-digit passing yards in 30 straight games and 32 of his last 33, which dates back to the 2016 season, as he had 341 yards with three TDs in the comeback win.

Junior Kolin Schulte (Anamosa) was his top target as he had eight catches for 124 yards. This was his sixth game of the season with triple digit receiving yards.

Classmate Mason Carter (North Liberty) led the team on the ground with 88 yards on 28 carries for a career-high three TDs.

Junior Jake Kloft (Maquoketa) led the defense with nine total tackles which included a career-best 2.5 TFLs. Senior Dillon Rademaker (Greene) had a team-high 3.0 TFLs.
