LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Wartburg College Knights women's soccer team (13-6-1) fell 2-0 to the No. 23 ranked University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Eagles (18-2-2) in the first round of the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles started off the game hot, as they scored the game's opening goal at the 2:53 mark when Natalie Herzog found the net off of a pass from Kaitlyn Villars. The Eagles stingy defense would hold the Knights to only three shot attempts in all of the first half, leaving the Orange and Black trailing the Eagles 1-0 at the break.
The Knights would continue to struggle throughout the second half, as they only managed to find their shot once before the Eagles added to their lead off of a shot from Margaret Harrings in the game's 71
st minute. The Knights would attempt eight shots in the final 18-plus minutes of the match, but could not find the net as they fell 2-0 to the Eagles.
With the loss, the Knights season comes to a close at 13-6-1.
