Five Score in Double Digits in Season Sweep Over Prairie Wolves

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Five players finished in double digits for No. 2/3 Wartburg (23-0 overall, 14-0 IIAC) in its 99-83 win over Nebraska Wesleyan (13-11, 4-11) Saturday.

Senior Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) led the way with 28 points, which included a career-best 12 free throws. She was also four points shy of her career mark in points, which she set a week ago today. Classmate Morgan Neuendorf (Plainfield) had 15, while seniors Miranda Murphy (Alleman) and Kristie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) each had 12, and sophomore Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) recorded 11.

Gerdes nearly had a double-double with her team-high nine rebounds.

The Knights took the commanding 48-31 lead into halftime, and continued to lead by double figures for the duration of the game.

Defensively, the Orange and Black were able to hold the Prairie Wolves to .207 from beyond the arc.

Wartburg owned the team advantages in field goal percentage (.542 vs. .438), three-point field goal percentage (.522 vs. .207), rebounds (41-38), assists (26-23), and blocks (4-0).

The Knights set new season highs in points, and field goal percentage.

The Orange and Black return to the court Wednesday when they host Coe in the regular season finale at 6 p.m.
