WAVERLY, Iowa—Head Athletic Trainer Ryan Callahan announced the recent hire of David Kragness, as the Wartburg College Associate Athletic Trainer. He will work with the soccer and cross country and track and field programs.
Kragness earned his bachelor of arts in athletic training at Minnesota State University Mankato, and his master's degree in kinesiology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
He comes to Wartburg from South Dakota State University where he was an assistant athletic trainer for eight academic years. Kragness worked with the women's basketball, men's tennis and women's tennis teams, in addition to supervising two graduate assistants for cross country and track and field.
Prior to SDSU, he was an assistant athletic trainer at Winona State University. In that role, he worked with the men's basketball, volleyball, and track and field teams. Kragness was a graduate assistant with the UNLV's women's volleyball team and concurrently worked at Findlay College Prep Academy.
He also spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves as an intern and as the head athletic trainer for the Minnesota Swarm professional lacrosse team.
Kragness is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, is board certified, and has certifications in Graston technique and American Red Cross First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR.
He began his duties on March 5.
