LINCOLN, Neb.-- Nebraska Wesleyan (15-9 overall, 2-0 IIAC) swept Wartburg (10-8, 0-2) Friday to open the Iowa Conference portion of the schedule. The Prairie Wolves both games 8-0 in five innings.
The first game was scoreless until the Prairie Wolves used an eight-run fifth inning to take the opener. Freshman Camille Colen (West Sacramento, Calif.) broke up the no-hitter with her single in the second inning.
In the finale, NWU plated five in its first at-bats and added two in the second and one in the third to take the 8-0 lead. Pinch hitter sophomore Katie Quintana (Westminster, Colo) ended the no-hitter attempt with her single in the fifth.
The Knights return to the field Tuesday when they host Simpson.
