CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- The Wartburg softball team (12-12 overall, 2-6 IIAC) fell 6-0 and 4-2 to Coe (15-9, 5-1) Wednesday.

In their first at-bats, senior Erica Countryman (Plainfield, Ill.) and junior Kailee O'Brien (Altoona) hit consecutive singled with one out and advanced a base on a wild pitch. Unfortunately, they were left stranded as the next two batters struck out.

The Kohawks plated two in the first, three in the fifth and one in the sixth, as they had four total home runs in the contest.

Junior Hannah Onken (Jefferson) went 2-3 at the plate.

In the finale, The Knights took the 1-0 lead in the first. In the bottom of the frame, Coe regained the lead at 3-1, and plated an additional run in the second. The Orange and Black scored one in the fifth as junior Madison Rentschler (Marion) drew a bases loaded walk.

Junior Liz Roby-Miklus (Ankeny) and O'Brien each went 2-4.

Wartburg returns to the field Saturday when it hosts Dubuque at 1 p.m.
