PELLA, Iowa-- In the second game of the doubleheader, senior Mara Forsyth (Charles City) became Wartburg's career leader in home runs. She now has 30, which surpasses the old mark of 29, set in 2009 by Ashley Rogers.
The No. 23 Dutch won 5-2 and 12-4 in five innings.
In the first game, the Knights took the 2-0 lead in the third as freshman Leah Campos (Diamond, Ill.) scored on senior Erica Countryman's (Plainfield, Ill.) triple to left field. Countryman later scored on a passed ball.
Central knotted the game at two all in the fourth, and added two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Campos had a career-high three hits as she was a perfect 3-3.
In the finale, the Dutch plated nine in their first at-bats. They added three in the third to extend their lead.
The Orange and Black got on the board in the fifth as junior Allison Hiestand (Plainfield, Ill.) scored on classmate Kailee O'Brien's (Altoona) double. The next batter, Forsyth, then hit a three-run homer over the left field fence to become the program's leader.
O'Brien was 3-3.
Wartburg returns to the field tomorrow when it hosts Dubuque at 1 p.m.
