2018 Hall of Fame Class Announced

WAVERLY, Iowa—Eight individuals will be inducted into the Wartburg Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the annual Homecoming weekend festivities this fall.

Kevin Ault '06: Ault was a four-year member of the men's golf team and the 2004 Iowa Conference individual medalist and subsequent conference MVP. He earned All-Conference honors all four years as the Knights won the 2004 and 2006 IIAC titles. Ault ranks second on the career scoring average leader list, and three of his seasons' scoring averages rank on the top 10 list in that category. He holds the 36-hole school record and held the 72-hole record until Tanner Randall bested that this season. Ault earned All-Region honors twice and was a PING Third-team All-American. He is the manager of the Kirkwood Bookstore and lives in Cedar Rapids with his wife, Andrea (Schiltz) '07, and their four children.

Josh Dodd '99: Dodd was a two-year member of the wrestling team and a two-time All-American, which included finishing as the National Runner Up in 1998. He was also a two-time Iowa Conference champion. Dodd has a career record at Wartburg of 71-8 with 18 major decisions, three tech falls and 22 falls. He was a member of the 1999 National Championship team and two Iowa Conference championship teams. He is an Ag/Commercial Loan Officer at First Security Bank & Trust Co. and lives in Osage with his wife, Nicole, and their four children.

Ashley (Steines) Lansing '08: Lansing was a four-year member of the volleyball and softball teams. She is volleyball's career leader in digs and digs/set, while ranking in the top 10 in three other categories. She holds two single season records as well as the single match mark in digs with 49. She was a three-time All-Conference selection, and an Honorable Mention All-Region honoree. On the diamond, Lansing ranks in the top 10 in 12 career categories and holds the single season record in triples with nine. She was a three-time All-Conference and All-Region selection and a First-team All-American. Lansing is a physical education and health teacher at Camanche Middle School and lives in DeWitt with her husband, Jason '09, and their two children.

Bart Mehlert '04: Mehlert was a two-year member of the wrestling team and a two-time All-American, which included winning the National Championship at 149 pounds in 2004. He was also a two-time Iowa Conference Champion. Mehlert has a career record at Wartburg of 69-4, with five major decisions, six tech falls, and 10 falls. He was a member of the 2003 and 2004 National Championship teams and two Iowa Conference championship teams. Mehlert is an estimator at Personified Inc. and is the head wrestling coach at Union-La Porte City. He lives in La Porte City with his wife, Lisa, and their three children.

Coach Jim Miller: Miller, or "Milboy", orchestrated the Wartburg wrestling program's rise to national dominance. Under his leadership, the Knights won 10 National Championships, had 34 individual National Champions, 138 All-Americans and 70 NWCA Scholar All-Americans. Coach Miller was named the 2003 NCAA National Coach of the Year and was a 10 time Iowa Conference Coach of the Year. He amassed a career record of 411-38-2. Wartburg won 21 straight IIAC titles under Miller, and the team still has not lost a dual against conference opponents since 1994. After he stepped down from coaching, Wartburg President Darrel Colson bestowed Miller Coach Emeritus honors. Miller is the chair of the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics at Wartburg and lives in Cedar Falls with his wife, Kathy. They have three adult sons, Christopher Clark, Chris Miller, and TJ Miller '08; along with three granddaughters.
 
Jamey Parker '96: Parker was a four-year member of the offensive line on the football team. Wartburg made two-straight appearances in the NCAA Playoffs and the 1993 team won the Iowa Conference Championship. He was a two-time All-Conference and All-American selection. Parker works for NextEra Energy Resources at the Duane Arnold Energy Center and is a volunteer firefighter. He lives in Hiawatha with his wife Angie and their three children.

Stephanie (Howe) Peterson '07: Peterson was a four-year member of the softball team. She holds career records in hits, doubles, RBIs and total bases and ranks in the top 10 in 13 other categories. Peterson holds five single game records, which includes two home runs in a single game, a feat she accomplished twice. She was a three-time All-Conference and All-Region selection and a two-time All-American. The Knights won the 2006 and 2007 Iowa Conference tournament titles, earning them back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Peterson is a teacher at Bridgeview Elementary in the Pleasant Valley School District, and lives in LeClaire with her husband, Cassidy '06, and their three children.

Nate Schmidt '06: Schmidt was a four-year member of the men's basketball team. He was a two-time All-Conference selection and was named the IIAC MVP for the 2004-05 season. Schmidt was a two-time NABC All-District honoree and named D3hoops.com All-Region. The Knights won back-to-back IIAC regular season championships in 2004-05 and 2005-06. Schmidt ranks in the top 10 in three career categories and is a member of the 1,000 career point club. He holds the single season record for blocked shots with 47. Schmidt is a police officer and lives in Dubuque.
