LINCOLN, Neb.-- Senior Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) and sophomore Payton Draper (Waverly) had career days in No. 16/18 Wartburg's 86-55 win over Nebraska Wesleyan Saturday.
Boettger surpassed her previous mark of 24 points set against Beloit on Nov. 24 and she tallied 27 on the day. She was nearly even in each half with 14 points in the first 20 minutes, with 10 points in the first quarter, and 13 in the final 20. Draper edged her career best of 10 set against then-No. 10/12 Illinois Wesleyan on Nov. 16 as she recorded 11 in the game.
Junior Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) and sophomore Tori Hazard (Janesville) co-led the team on the glass with 10 rebounds each. Hazard matched her career mark in this category, as she previously accomplished this against Beloit earlier this season.
The Knights led 20-14 at the end of the first quarter, and used a 23-7 second quarter scoring effort to push the game out of reach for the Prairie Wolves, as they took the 43-21 lead at halftime.
The Orange and Black continued to lead by 20 or more points for the duration of the game. Boettger's final layup with 4:26 to play in the fourth gave Wartburg its largest lead at 35 points (80-45).
The Knights held the team shooting percentage categories in field goal percentage (.492 vs. .344), free throw percentage (.792 vs. .444), rebounds (55-24), assists (27-11), and blocks (6-2).
With the win, the Orange and Black move to 12-3 on the season and 5-1 in conference play.
Wartburg returns to the court Wednesday on the road against Buena Vista. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
