No. 18/21 Wartburg Snaps Loras' Eleven Game Winning Streak

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 18/21 Wartburg women's basketball team moved into sole possession of first place in the American Rivers Conference standings in the 68-49 win over Loras Wednesday. The Knights' victory snapped an 11-game winning streak for the Duhawks.

The win also marked the eighth-straight in the series for the Orange and Black and completed the season sweep.

The Orange and Black are now 16-3 overall and 9-1 in A-R-C contests, while Loras fell to 15-4, 8-2.



Senior Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) led all scores with 20 points, 14 in the second half alone, and co-led the team on the glass with six rebounds. Sophomore Ally Conrad (Cedar Falls) joined her in double figures with a career-high 15 points, all which were from beyond the arc. Junior Katie Lindeman (Grundy Center) rounded out the leading scorers with 11 points.

Junior Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) was the other teammate with six rebounds.

Wartburg took the 14-4 lead with 2:53 left in the first quarter, until Loras answered with a 10-2 run over the next two minutes to make it a two-point game (16-14). In the second quarter, the Knights began to add to their margin to later lead by 10 at halftime (33-23).

The Orange and Black continued to lead by double digits for the duration of the game, and led by as many as 19 (66-47) with 2:09 to play.

Wartburg owned two of the three team shooting percentages in field goal percentage (.464 vs. .340) and three-point field goal percentage (.321 vs. .211). The Knights forced 14 turnovers while they only surrendered nine.

The Orange and Black conclude their two-game homestand Saturday when they host Central at 2 p.m.
