No. 18/21 Knights Move Winning Streak to Six in 73-33 Victory over the Dutch

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 18/21 Wartburg women's basketball team (17-3 overall, 10-1 American Rivers) moved its winning streak to six in the 73-33 win over Central (6-13, 2-8) Saturday.

Senior Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) led the Knights with 17 points, 13 in the first half alone. Junior Amanda Brainerd (DeWitt) finished with 11 and freshman Hannah Anderson (Forest City) had 10. Junior Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) had a team-best eight rebounds.

The score was tied twice in the first three minutes of the game, which included 5-5 with 6:45 to go. The Knights finished the frame on a 10-3 run to lead 15-8. The Orange and Black continued to add to their margin to double digits in the second quarter, as they led by as many as 18 points twice in that stanza.

Two free throws by sophomore Maddie Busch (Wonder Lake, Ill.) with 11 seconds remaining in the game gave Wartburg its biggest lead of the day at 40 (73-33).

Defensively, the Knights held Central to a zero field goal percentage from beyond the arc in the second and fourth quarters.

The Orange and Black held all three team shooting percentage categories, rebounds (46-30), assists (16-9), blocks (5-2) and steals (10-9).

Wartburg saw scoring efforts from 13 of the 15 players that saw playing time in today's contest.

The Knights take to the road for its lone game on the week on Wednesday against Simpson at 6 p.m.
