WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg volleyball team had two victories over the University of Northwestern (MN) and Cornell College at the Wartburg Invitational on Saturday to close out the 2019 regular season.
The Knights, now 23-7 overall, started off the Wartburg Invite with a 3-2 win over Northwestern. Winning the first set 25-23, the Eagles responded with back-to-back wins in the second and third set and the Knights came back with a fourth set lead to head into five sets. The Orange and Black took the overall victory with a 15-12 win.
Kylie Bildstein led Wartburg with 20 kills, followed by
Zaiah Quirk with 15 and
Jayme Willemssen tallying 12.
Katie Foster led with 32 digs and
Claire Marsh notched 35 assists.
The Orange and Black also had a victory over Cornell. Taking the first set with a 25-18 win, the Rams responded in the second set with a 25-16 win. Wartburg came back to win sets three and four and took the 3-1 victory. The Knights notched 12 aces and nine blocks against the Rams. Foster tallied 24 digs for Wartburg and
Natalie Clayberg earned 16.
Next up, the Knights will host the No. 4/5 seed at Levick Arena on Thursday, November 7th for the A-R-C Semifinals.
