WAVERLY, Iowa - The No.6-ranked Wartburg women's basketball team had an 80-56 victory over the UW-Stout Blue Devils for the team's first home game of the season.
After a pretty even first quarter, the Orange and Black recorded seven straight free throws capped off by a three pointer by senior
Amanda Brainerd to give the Knights a double digit lead with just under two minutes in the half.
The Knights had a 20 point lead over the Blue Devils leading into the final quarter after a layup by junior
Payton Draper.
Draper scored a career high 16 points, shooting 5-of-10 from the field and 6-7 from the free throw line.
Brainerd also notched 16 points where she was 4-7 at the three-point line and contributed six rebounds.Ā
Senior
Katie LindemanĀ tallied nine points for the Orange and Black, all coming from beyond the arc in the final two minutes.
Eight other Knights scored with the team being 27-of-57 in field goal shooting and 15-of-18 from the free throw line.
The team tallied 32 rebounds, 20 assists and had 12 steals.
Next up, Wartburg will host Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 pm.Ā
