Knights Look Ahead to Buena Vista

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg College Knights (15-8 overall, 9-5 A-R-C) look to bounce back from Saturday's loss to No. 1 Nebraska Wesleyan when they welcome in Buena Vista University (11-13, 5-10) on Wednesday at 8 p.m. The Knights defeated the Beavers 90-78 in their first matchup of the season on Jan. 16.

The Series
Wartburg holds the all-time series lead at 83-60, with the Knights claiming four of the last five games, in addition to eight of the last eleven matchups dating back to 2015. In the 90-78 victory earlier this season, Sabus scored 33 points and hauled in eight rebounds, while Smith Drahos scored 19 points and recorded a career-high six steals.
 
Wartburg
The Orange and Black are looking to bounce back after dropping two of the last three, including an 85-82 loss to No. 1 Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday. Senior guard Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) leads the team and conference in scoring with 21.5 points/game. Senior guard Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) is second on team and ninth in the conference with 16.4 points/game, while sophomore guard Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) is third with 12.6 points/game. Kickbush leads the team and conference in made three-pointers per game at 3.5/game. Sabus' 5.9 rebounds/game lead the team and are good for ninth in the conference, while senior center Josh Gehling (Dyersville) is second on the squad with 5.2 rebounds/game.

Junior guard Timothy Jeffries leads the team in scoring at 15.5 points/game, while junior guard Dominic Sesma is second at 12 points/game. Jeffries'.554 field goal percentage is first on the team and fourth overall in the conference. Junior guard Robert Hawkins leads the team in rebounding with 4.8 rebounds/game, while Jeffries is second with 4.3 rebounds/game.
 
Buena Vista is coached by Todd Lorensen, who is wrapping up his first season as head coach. He is assisted by Matt Dickman, Paul Loos, Aaron Poor Bear and Ben Clark.

The Orange and Black lead the league in defensive rebounds (32.5 avg./game) and rebounding margin (+4.8 rebounds/game).
