WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 14/15 Wartburg women's basketball team (21-3, 14-1 American Rivers) moved its winning streak to 10 in the 68-54 win over Buena Vista (7-18, 2-14) in the 68-54 win Wednesday night. With the victory, the Knights also clinched at least a share of the regular season Conference Championship.
Senior Adrienne Boettger (Cedar Falls) led the Orange and Black with 16 points, 11 of which were in the first half alone. Sophomore Ally Conrad (Cedar Falls) had a career-high 15 points and junior Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) rounded out the scoring leaders with 13, 10 which occurred in the second half.
Sophomore Tori Hazard (Janesville) led the team with six rebounds and narrowly missed double figures with nine points.
BV led 20-14 at the end of the first quarter. Wartburg used a 13-3 second quarter to take the 27-23 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Knights continued to push its margin and led by as many as 13 twice in the third frame.
Mid-way through the fourth quarter, the Orange and Black used a 9-1 run to make the margin 16 points and continued to lead by double digits for the duration of the contest.
Wartburg owned all three team shooting percentage categories, rebounds (33-30), assists (20-12), and steals (15-10).
The Knights conclude the regular season Saturday when they travel to face Dubuque at 2 p.m.
