LONGVIEW, Texas – The Wartburg College Knights (2-9 overall) fell 7-0 to the LeTourneau University YellowJackets (13-6) in the final game of a three-game series on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore pitcher
Dylan Gotto (Peosta) recorded three of his six strikeouts over the first two innings to keep the YellowJackets off the board. LeTourneau got on the board first with a two-run third inning that saw the Knights commit two errors.
The YellowJackets added on two more runs in the fourth before Gotto forced LeTourneau's Faubion into a double play to end the inning down 4-0. The game remained scoreless over the fifth, sixth and seventh innings before Wartburg surrendered three more runs in the bottom of the eighth.
At the top of the ninth, junior infielder
Andrew Walker (Eagan, Minn.) singled to right field before being stranded on base after freshman
Bryce Butler (Mason City) flied out to left field, ending the game in a 7-0 loss.
The Knights will return home to face the University of Dubuque Spartans (5-2-1) in a weekend series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
