WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Wartburg College Knights (1-2 overall) fell 13-2 to the Concordia College Cobbers (3-0) on Tuesday afternoon.
Concordia scored seven runs in the first three innings before Wartburg could respond with a sacrifice fly from junior catcher
Joey Baumann (Woodbury, Minn.) that brought home freshman infielder
Ben DeKruyf (Urbandale).
The 7-1 Concordia lead stood for another two innings before the Cobbers scored another four runs to bump their lead up to 11-1. The Knights added their second run of the day in the bottom of the seventh inning by way of a
Parker Ridge (Marion) single that scored sophomore outfielder
JoJo McNair (Joliet, Ill.).
The scoring play proved to be the final of the day, as the Orange and Black stranded runners on base in the 13-2 defeat.
Sophomore pitcher
Darren Kilpatrick (Fairfax) was handed his first loss of the season after allowing six runs in 1.1 innings of work. Offensively, Dekruyf went 2-3 on the day, followed by Ridge and
