Softball Travels to Face Simpson, Hosts Nebraska Wesleyan

WAVERLY, Iowa-- T he Wartburg softball team (21-9, 6-4 A-R-C) travels to face Simpson (17-13, 4-6) Saturday at 1 p.m. and will host Nebraska Wesleyan (21-9, 6-4) Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Knights and the Prairie Wolves are tied for fourth and the Storm are sixth in the conference standings.

The Series
The Storm owns the all-time series lead at 44-34, though the Knights have won three of the last four. The series is tied at 3-3 with Nebraska Wesleyan, as it won the doubleheader in Lincoln last season.

Wartburg
Senior Kailee O'Brien (Altoona) leads the team with her .442 average. Classmate Liz Roby-Miklus (Ankeny) follows at .438 and freshman Sydney Illg (Grimes) rounds out the leading hitters at .400.

Roby-Miklus has a team-best 45 stolen bases and Illg has a team-high 35 RBIs. Freshman Olivia Brecht (Center Point) leads the team with 11 doubles.

Sophomore Maddie Rog (Norridge, Ill.) leads the starting pitchers with 3.60 ERA and has a team-best 44 strikeouts.

Career Record Watch
Roby-Miklus continues to extend her lead as the program leader in stolen bases and has 108 to date. She also ranks ninth in hits (142). O'Brien ranks third in stolen bases with 55 and is fifth in hits with 170.

Reicks is the all-time leader with 10 saves.

Single Season Record Watch
Reicks' five saves ties her own mark at first on the single season leader list. Roby-Miklus set the record in stolen bases (45), while Illg is fifth (23) and O'Brien is sixth (19).

Simpson
Megan Crockett leads her team with her .394 batting average and Kayla Reusche is teh second-leading hitter (.329). Emily Bell leads the starting pitching staff with her 1.54 ERA.

Nebraska Wesleyan
The Prairie Wolves host No. 16 Luther this weekend before making the trip to Waverly.

Against the Conference
The Knights lead the A-R-C in batting average (.354), hits (98) triples (3), and stolen bases (40).

Illg leads the conference in batting average (.531), runs (14), home runs (4), and RBIs (15). Rog has the third-best ERA (1.37).
