ST. PAUL-- The Wartburg softball team (26-12 overall) narrowly fell 2-1 to UW-Eau Claire Thursday in the NCAA Tournament. The Knights will face Northwestern-St. Paul Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The Knights were the first team on the scoreboard as senior Kailee O'Brien (Altoona) scored on a bases loaded walk in their first at-bats.

The Blugolds evened the score in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth when UW-Eau Claire hit an RBI double down the left field line to take the 2-1 lead.

Freshman Grace Petersen (Joliet, Ill.) was 2-2 at the plate and sophomore Maddie Rog (Norridge, Ill.) threw her ninth complete game of the season and fanned two in the outing.
