WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg women's soccer team is set to kickoff its 2019 season hosting Macalester College on Friday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m.
The Knights turned in a 13-6-1 overall and 6-1-1 conference record in 2018, good for second place in the American Rivers Conference standings. Wartburg reached the tournament championship game and fell 3-2 to Loras prior to earning a second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Wartburg was voted to finish second in the A-R-C Preseason Coaches' Poll and returns the 2018 conference defensive MVP in Zoey Campbell along with a First Team All-Conference goalkeeper in Marissa Lopez. Head Coach Tiffany Pins enters her ninth season at the helm of the program looking to carry on five-straight winning seasons.
Following the season opener at home on Friday, the Knights hit the road for another non-conference test at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. on Sunday, Sept. 1. The 2019 schedule features nine non-conference games, including matchups against No. 17 UW-La Crosse and No. 19 St. Thomas.
