HOLLAND, Mich. - The Wartburg College volleyball team swept Wisconsin Lutheran and Bluffton University Saturday, Aug. 31 to conclude competition at the Hope College Invitational.
The Knights defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 3-0 (25-18, 25-8, 25-11) and Bluffton 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-13) to improve its record to 2-1 overall.
Wartburg was efficient versus WLC, attacking at a rate of .291, led by a collective offensive effort of eight kills each from Kyle Bildstein and
Zaiah Quirk.
Katie Foster paced the defense with 18 digs.
Versus Bluffton, the Orange and Black forced 21 errors and jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the first set, eventually recording a .407 hitting percentage. Bluffton responded in the second set, taking a slim 9-8 lead. However, Wartburg closed out the set with a 17-12 advantage and carried its momentum into the third set, maintaining a lead throughout.
Natalie Clayberg and
Jayme Willemssen each recorded .438 attacking percentages in match number two on the day, while Foster once again owned the team-lead with 13 digs.

Wartburg returns to action Sept. 6-7 with four matches at the Loras Tournament in Dubuque, Iowa. The Knights kick off the tourney versus No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus College and will also face No. 14 WashU, Dominican University, and St. Norbert College.
