WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg volleyball team hosted the 2019 Knights Classic Sept. 13-14, going 2-2 to move its overall record to 7-5 on the year.
On Friday, the Knigths faced Webster University and the College of St. Scholastica. The Knights fell 3-1 in both matches before returning Saturday to take double wins.
The Knights started off day two of the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Concordia (Minn.).
Jayme Willemssen led the Orange and Black with 13 kills, a slight two-point advantage over Concordia's Kendra Wiggs who had 11.
Wartburg followed with a 3-1 win over Grinnell. After winning the first two sets, Grinnell reacted and won the third, sending the teams to a fourth match. While Wartburg fell 65-71 in digs, they were able to hold off Grinnell and take win.
The Knights travel to Decorah on Wednesday to face Luther College in the first conference game of the season.
