Men's Soccer Battles to 2-2 Double OT Draw Versus Knox

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg men's soccer team ended a battle of a game with a 2-2 tie versus Knox Saturday afternoon at the Wartburg Soccer Field.

The Knights started off early with a 1-0 lead from a penalty kick made by Nick Schwake, his first goal of the season, at the four minute mark.

Knox responded with two back-to-back goals scored by Jun Min, giving the Prairie Fox a 2-1 lead at half.

Starting off the second half, Nic Hubacz scored the game-tying goal with an assist by Nathan Feiner at the 54 minute mark.

The game went into double overtime, but neither team was able to tally a point.

A physical game led to several yellow cards and over 30 combined fouls.

"While it wasn't pretty, it was a gutsy performance against a talented and experienced team that was in the NCAA tournament and already has results against national and regional ranked teams," said head coach Mike Madigan."We'll continue to build on this, the tie is somewhat of a positive result and we'll learn from it and get better as we get ready for more tough games later in the year."

The Knights are now 3-0-2 and will head to Northfield, Minn. on Tuesday, Sept. 24 to play St. Olaf College.
