PELLA, Iowa - The Wartburg volleyball team wrapped up competition at the Central College Invitational Saturday afternoon with 3-0 victories over Concordia University Chicago and North Central College.
The Knights finished the tournament 3-1 while improving their overall record to 11-6 on the year.Â
Wartburg 3, Concordia-Chicago 0
Wartburg opened day two of the tourney with its fifth sweep of the season, starting off hot with a 25-13 set one victory, hitting .304 and forcing eight Conordia errors. While Concordia had some push back in sets two and three, the Knights found a way to remain on top with 29-27 and 25-23 wins.Â
After a career performance with a total of 34 kills during day one of the Central Invite, Waverly native
Jayme Willemssen carried her momentum into Saturday, attacking at a rate of .500 with a team-high 11 kills.
Sydney Rottinghaus notched 18 assists while
Katie Foster led with 16 digs.Â
Wartburg 3, North Central 0
The Knights rounded out the weekend with another sweep, tallying 70 digs compared to 51 from North Central.
Natalie Clayberg notched eight kills and three aces, while
Claire Marsh and Rottinghaus combined for 25 assists. Foster led with 23 digs and finished the weekend with a total of 100, averaging 6.67 per set.
Foster and Marsh were named to the All-Tournament Team.Â

Wartburg heads back into American Rivers Conference action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Levick Arena, hosting the University of Dubuque. The rematch of last year's A-R-C Tournament Championship is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
