ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Wartburg volleyball team earned a fourth consecutive victory Friday evening, defeating Augustana College, the host of the 2019 Viking Classic by a score of 3-1.
The Knights hit .159 while limiting the Vikings to an attacking percentage of 0.42 and tallied 11 blocks en route to improving their overall record to 13-6 on the season.
Dani Johnson led Wartburg with nine blocks, while
Natalie Clayberg and
Jayme Willemssen led the way with 10 kills each.
Katie Foster paced the defense with 28 digs while
Claire Marsh notched 20 assists.
After taking the first set, the Knights conceded a second set loss prior to taking a 2-1 lead with a tight 25-23 third set victory. The Orange and Black closed out the match strongly with a 25-13 win in set four to seal the win, hitting a match-high .333.
Wartburg concludes competition at the Viking Classic tomorrow morning, facing Saint Mary's University of Minnesota at 10 a.m.
