INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Wartburg women's soccer team ended its conference opening game with a 2-2 tie versus Simpson in 2 OT.
After a scoreless first half for Wartburg and Simpson having a 1-0 lead,
Gabby Corday scored her first goal of the season with an assist by
Sarah Campbell, tying the game 1-1 at the 59-minute mark.
Shortly after,
Joy Smith tallied her sixth goal of the season giving the Knights a 2-1 lead.
With five minutes left in the second half, Simpson scored its second goal sending the game into double overtime and a final draw of 2-2.
Wartburg outshot Simpson 20-4 and had a 7-1 corner kick advantage.
The Knights will head to St. Paul, Minn. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 to play the University of St. Thomas.
