CRETE/LINCON, Neb. / STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Wartburg women's tennis team had split-squad matches in the morning along with opening American Rivers Conference play Saturday, Sept. 7. The Knights fell 4-3 at Doane University, but opened conference action 2-0 with an 8-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan and a 9-0 win over Buena Vista. 

The 2-0 start to A-R-C action marks the third year in a row the Knights opened conference competition unbeaten in the first two matches. 

Despite sweeping doubles, Doane bounced in singles play to take down Wartburg, 4-3 winning at four of six positions.

The only loss for the Knights throughout both conference matches came at the No. 1 singles spot at NWU. Otherwise, Wartburg swept its opponents without dropping a set.
