DES MOINES, Iowa - Wartburg women's tennis earned a pair of medalists at this year's American Rivers Conference individual tournament on Saturday in Des Moines, as the senior duo of
Sydney Powers and
Sydney Rottinghaus finished in second place in the A-Doubles competition.
After receiving a first-round bye, Powers and Rottinghaus swept through the quarterfinals and semifinals by the scores of 8-1 and 8-2, respectively. Their run came to an end in the championship round when they suffered an 8-4 defeat to Alyssa Lewton and Karleigh Schilling from Central College.
Alyssa Guse and
Ambriel Jacobs also had a good showing in A-Doubles when they recorded a 2-2 tally and finished the tournament in fourth place. Freshman
Georgia Nissen also recorded a fourth-place finish in the B-Singles bracket. After suffering a loss in the quarterfinals of the A-Singles competition, junior
Madison Overmann went on to reach the championship round of the consolation bracket but was defeated by Emily King from Simpson College.
The Knights will conclude their fall season on Tuesday, Oct. 20 when they travel to Dubuque, Iowa to take on Loras College at 4 p.m.
