CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced that Wartburg College men's cross country runner
Joe Freiburger (Sr., Holy Cross) and women's cross country runner
Aubrie Fisher (So., Ackley) have been named American Rivers Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 8, 2020.
Fisher and Freiburger led the Knights to conference championships on Saturday, Nov. 7 in Pella, Iowa, on the campus of Central College with MVP performances. It was the 17th conference title in Wartburg history for the men and women each.
While earning her first career A-R-C Runner of the Week and Athlete of the Week honors, Fisher claimed the A-R-C individual title with a six-kilometer time of 21:56.85, defeating the runner-up be nearly seven seconds.
Freiburger is named the A-R-C Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this fall and the Runner of the Week for the ninth time in his career. He won the 8k race with a time of 25:38.54, remaining unbeaten in 2020 and defending his 2019 conference crown.
