Men's Hoops Drops A-R-C Semifinal Matchup at Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The No. 6 seeded Wartburg men's basketball team fell 103-75 at No. 2 seed Coe College Thursday evening in the American Rivers Conference Tournament Semifinals.

Wartburg concludes its season with a 12-15 overall record while reaching the conference playoff semifinal round for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

The Kohawks' shooting stride was consistent all night, including a 12-for-27 mark from three-point range. Conversely, the Knights were cold from beyond the arc, going 4-for-20.

Four of five Kohawk starters scored in double figures as the Knights' conceded a season-high points against.

The first half featured several runs for the both the Knights and Kohawks, leading to several lead changes.

Coe opened the game on an 8-0 run two minutes in, however Wartburg answered with a 20-8 in the next four minutes, capped off by back-to-back three-pointers from Davis Roquet to earn a 20-18 lead.

Wartburg took just one more lead during the remainder of the first half and trailed by as many as eight with 8:25 left, but trimmed the Coe lead to 43-41 with two and half remaining to conclude a 12-2 run.

The home team then closed out the half on a 5-0 run to take a 52-45 halftime lead. Coe shot over 60 percent in the first half and 50 percent from long-range. Over half of the Knights' scoring came from off the bench, with 11 points each from Roquet and Jacob Kuhlemeier.

Coe opened the second half shooting 6-of-7 from the field just under five minutes in to gain a 12-point lead the didn't look back. The Kohawks also were hot from long-range, converting 4-of-6 three-point field goal attempts near the midway point of the second period and put the Knights' comeback hopes out of reach.

Senior forward Tyler Zumbach of Anamosa led the Orange & Black with 14 points and seven rebounds, shooting 6-of-7 from the field.
