WBB Earns Series Sweep over Luther

DECORAH, Iowa - No. 9 Wartburg women's basketball secured the series sweep over Luther College Wednesday evening, defeating the Norse 79-59 to improve to 10-2 during American Rivers Conference action.

The Knights jumped out to a 13-point lead after one quarter and didn't look back, holding on to a lead throughout the contest. Wartburg shot nearly 50 percent from the field while limiting Luther to 34.4% shooting from the field and 20 percent from long range.

Four Knights scored in double figures, led by 16-point efforts each by Tori Hazard and Kaitlyn Volesky; a season-high for Hazard and career-best for Volesky. Emma Gerdes and Ally Conrad combined for 23 points while Gerdes led with five assists.

Near the midway point of the second quarter, the Orange & Black extended its advantage into the 20's with a Katie Lindeman layup, and maintained at least an 18-point lead heading into the break.

Early into the fourth frame, the Norse trimmed the Wartburg lead to nine, capping off an 8-2 run to force an Orange & Black timeout. However, the Knights answered after the break with a three-pointer from Conrad and preserved at least a 12-point lead for the rest of the game.
