Baseball Splits with MSOE; Routs Chatham

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Wartburg baseball team split with the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Sunday, March 1 to open its spring trip, followed by a 17-1 victory Monday afternoon over Chatham University. 

The Knights earned a 9-5 win over MSOE prior to a 10-3 game two loss. 

JoJo McNair led Wartburg with four runs batted off three hits on Sunday, including a bases-clearing 3RBI triple in game one.

Dylan Gotto tossed his second complete game of the season to improve his record to 2-0 in game one, throwing seven innings with six strikeouts while allowing three earned runs. 

In game two, McNair and Ethan Hayes led with two hits each. Darren Kilpatrick suffered the loss on the mound despite recording 4 K's in five innings pitched. 

Versus Chatham, the Orange & Black tallied 15 hits while Manny Jeffery three a complete game with nine strikeouts with seven innings while allowing run run off three hits. 

Eight Knights' batters recorded hits, including a 4-for-5 performance for DH Ethan Hayes. Wartburg also notched 17 RBI, including four doubles, and a homer from Tyler Hovick. Ben Dekruyf led with 4 RBI and 4 runs scored. 

Wartburg, now 4-1 overall, plays Neumann University tomorrow morning at 9:45 a.m. (ET).
