WAVERLY, Iowa - Wartburg men's basketball endured a tough loss to begin its season after a last-second three pointer by Edgewood College gave the Eagles a 71-70 victory over the Knights on Sunday night inside Levick Arena. Wartburg is now 17-7 in season openers under head coach

The Orange and Black (0-1, 0-0 A-R-C) will continue its non-conference journey on Tuesday, Jan. 12 when they play host to Simpson College (0-0, 0-0 A-R-C) at 6:30 p.m. inside Levick Arena.
Junior guard
Drew Olson knocked down a pair of free throws to put the Knights up by two with just 24 seconds remaining. Edgewood's Will Schwartz then went down the other end and drained a three from the top of the arc to give the Eagles a one point advantage and the last-second heave from senior guard
Max Smith Drahos fell short for Wartburg.
Junior forward
Mitch Gehling lead the Knights in scoring with a career-high 12 points while fellow forward
Ryan Stulken ripped down a team-best eight rebounds. Junior guard
Drew Olson also reached double figures in scoring with 11 and junior
Cade Daugherty went a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from deep en route to 10 points. Junior guard
Keagan John posted a career-high eight points on 4-of-5 shooting.
The back-and-forth contest saw five lead changes and six ties. The Knights held the Eagles to just 42.9% from the field and 25% from three compared to Wartburg's 45.3% and 22.7%.
