#19 Women's Soccer is at Home for an A-R-C Matchup

WAVERLY, Iowa – #19 women's soccer is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. when they take on Buena Vista University at Salzwedel Field.

Wartburg is currently ranked No. 19 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll and comes in at No. 2 in their region IX poll. Wartburg is also ranked No. 25 nationally by d3soccer.com. United Soccer Coaches will release a new national and regional poll on Tuesday, Oct. 12 around 12 p.m. 

Last Time Out
The Knights were last on the pitch Saturday, Oct. 9 on the road at Simpson College where they earned a 3-1 win over the Storm. The Orange & Black went down early in the first half 1-0 and then scored three unanswered goals to win 3-1. Hayley Howe scored first for Wartburg and the goal marked her first collegiate goal. Kate Luers and Gabby Corday also added goals for the Orange & Black.
 
Offensively the Knights are led by Joy Smith, who has recorded eight goals and one assist for a total of 17 points through 12 games. Luers has also added 11 points offensively with four goals and three assists. Marissa Lopez continues to anchor the Wartburg defense in goal. Lopez has started all 12 games for the Knights and has accumulated 46 saves with a save percentage of 90.2%.
 
Buena Vista
The Beavers come into the match with a winless conference record and a 1-10 ledger overall. Buena Vista has lost its last seven matches and got its lone win on Sept. 14 over Crown College.
 
The Beavers are led offensively by Eliza Evans who has three goals with a total of 13 shots on goal. In goal for Buena Vista, McKeely Tjaden has recorded 57 saves and save percentage of 74% in five starts.
 
The Knights lead the all-time series between the schools 23-1, with a current win streak of 22 straight dating back to 1999.
