DECORAH, Iowa – No. 5 seeded Wartburg men's soccer was defeated 4-0 by No. 4 seed Luther College in the A-R-C Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 30.
The first goal of the game came from a Wartburg own goal in the 16
th minute. Luther would add another goal in the 29
th minute and the Knights went into halftime down 2-0.
Despite the deficit, the Orange & Black out shot the Norse six to four in the first half and tied with Luther one to one in shots on goal.
The Knights would allow two more goals early in the second half to make the game 4-0.
Offensively, Wartburg was unable to get shots on target and finished with one shot on goal.
Sam Thomann recorded the lone shot on goal, while
Jack Palen and
Curtis Ratzer each led the team with three shot attempts.
Luther finished the match with a five to one advantage in shots on goal and 13-12 in shot attempts.
The Knights finish the 2021 season with an overall record of 7-7-3 and 4-3-1 in A-R-C play.
